Ex Logicalis Boakes appointed to System Z team at Thesaurus |
Enterprise data specialist, Thesaurus, has appointed Martin Boakes as its IBM System Z business manager. Boakes will be co-ordinating the Thesaurus System Z team, using his wide range of experience in the energy efficient server technology.
Boakes joins Thesaurus after three successful years driving System Z strategies at Logicalis, leaving the company as Head of System Z. Martin arrived at Logicalis through the company’s acquisition of enterprise IT provider, CSF Solutions in 2006. Prior to this, he was Head of Mainframes and UNIX at retailer, John Lewis. Boakes also brings with him a long history of working closely with IBM.
Boakes comments, “I’ve been extremely impressed with the level of skilled staff here at Thesaurus, especially in the realm of System Z. Prior to joining Thesaurus, I was aware it was the most experienced System Z partner in the UK and a centre of excellence for the technology. Thesaurus brings hard value in terms of pure capability and support, not just hardware; I’m delighted to be part of it.”
Mike Vinten, CEO, Thesaurus, explains, “We brought Martin on board to leverage our System Z sales and services strategy. Liaising directly with our entire System Z team, Martin will work with organisations to identify the benefits of System Z technology and the cost savings on offer. Many businesses pay for servers they just don’t use, an expensive mistake in today’s climate. As part of the UK’s largest, most experienced System Z hardware and services centre, Martin will drive new awareness into companies of how to break this habit, positioning System Z as the ideal solution.”
Boakes continues, “System Z offers businesses a cost effective, energy efficient and high performance solution for data server needs. My role is to communicate this to the market and convey how the Thesaurus team’s expertise of System Z capabilities can save organisations very large sums of money.”
Working from the Thesaurus head office on Midsummer Boulevard, Milton Keynes, Boakes is a keen scuba diving enthusiast. He also spends his weekends racing his prized Caterham around the UK’s top racing tracks. |
